Bruce Levin

Bruce Levin, Lead Teacher and Department Chair

Mr. Bruce Levin received his B.A. from UC Berkeley and his California Teaching Credential from CSU San Francisco. He has taken continuing education classes in Algebra/Trig, English Literature and computer programming at SRJC, and Sonoma State University. He has been teaching at CIS for 13 years and serves as our Lead Teacher and Department Chair.

Mr. Levin spent many summers working with adolescents in camp settings, and counseled teens with alcohol and drug problems.

All of his experiences have given him immeasurable insights into the teenage personality.


 

Carol McKnight

Carol McKnight

Ms. McKnight has been teaching in the Healdsburg Unified School District since 1983. She has been with the Center for Independent Study since 1999. She has a B.A. degree from Colorado State University, and a Master's degree in education from the University of Arizona. She has also attended Sonoma State and the Santa Rosa Junior College, taking additional classes in education and Spanish. She speaks Spanish.

Ms. Mcknight has many interests, one of which is working with teenagers, and she has been devoting herself to the development and education of young people since 1970. She holds the belief that all teens want to be their very best selves, and it is her job to inspire them to discover and realize their dreams and potential.

Ms. Mcknight also enjoys camping, kayaking, hiking, and cycling.


 

Pam Anderson

Pam Anderson

Mrs. Anderson earned a BA in Liberal Studies from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo in 1975, and an MA in Education from Sonoma State University in 1981. She is a life-long learner who has continued to read and take course work to enhance her teaching abilities. Since 1978 she has taught in the Healdsburg schools at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels. Mrs. Anderson joined CIS in 2004 and offers her students a wealth of skills and knowledge gleaned from many years in education.

Healdsburg has been her home since 1985. She especially values and enjoys her family and friends, finds joy in nature, and thrives in outdoor activities and natural settings. Mrs. Anderson delights in teaching, and values the opportunity to be a part of the lives of young people as they work toward their educational goals.
